Faith, Football & Fashion: Jeremiah Burroughs’ Journey to Success
The Eastside Catholic senior is balancing his passion for football, his dreams in fashion, and his unwavering faith as he plans for the future.
SAMMAMISH, WA – For as long as Jeremiah Burroughs can remember, his passions have been football, fashion, and faith.
As the Eastside Catholic senior moves beyond his final high school football season and begins planning for college, all three remain intertwined in his future.
The running back wants to continue his career at the collegiate level. He hopes to expand his fashion brand (which he already owns and operates). And he will let his faith guide his decisions.
“I believe I found a message with my brand,” Burroughs said. “I want to continue to grow it as I go into college and, hopefully, turn it into one of the biggest brands in the world. That is my end goal. And then, obviously, if I play football, the platform I gain through the sport and the people I meet at college will help me expand my company, become a self-made entrepreneur, and share that message with as many people as possible.”
Fashion is his passion. Football is his platform. Faith is his message.
On the football field, Burroughs has always been determined to prove people wrong. Always one of the smaller players, he has never shied away from a challenge.
“That’s always been my goal – to prove everybody wrong,” he said. “Obviously, I’m on the smaller side, not as heavy as most players, but I’ve been able to show that size isn’t everything in football.”
One of the top running backs in the state this year, Burroughs helped lead Eastside Catholic to the Class 3A state semifinals, where the Crusaders’ title hopes were dashed on a heartbreaking Hail Mary. (Burroughs talks about that moment in-depth as my guest on this week’s Spilled Ink podcast.)
Burroughs was given a Raiders jersey at birth and has been playing football since kindergarten. Technically, he first put on a helmet in preschool, but, as he recalled, it was “a big old helmet just bobbling around.” With an older brother already playing, Burroughs was constantly emulating the older kids, eager for his turn.
He loved the game then. He still does. But now, he faces some big decisions.
Right now, his preferred destination is heading south. He dreams of playing football at Morehouse College, an HBCU, while also having the opportunity to study fashion at the Savannah College of Art & Design.
“If that’s a possibility, I’m truly, genuinely excited about it,” he said. “I have always had the mindset that I’m willing to outwork and work harder than anybody else.”
Burroughs has already proven his relentless work ethic, both on the field and in business. Balancing high-level football, school, and running a company is no small feat.
“It’s definitely hard. It’s definitely a daunting task,” he admitted. “And it was for me. So if anyone ever wants to start a business, I would just say – believe in yourself. The start is always the hardest part, but the longer you stick with it and the harder you work, the easier it gets.”
This intersection of football and fashion is where faith plays a crucial role.
Burroughs’ clothing line, Unrevealed, is a Christian streetwear company he founded with his brother.
“I’m very faith-based, so all of our designs are centered around the Bible,” he said. “Each one carries a unique message or scripture verse. The whole idea behind it is self-empowerment and believing in yourself. That’s what I founded the company on, and I want whoever wears the clothing to feel that sense of empowerment and self-belief through a faith-based message.”
Recently, Burroughs took a step back from the business to focus on his personal spiritual journey. Now, he’s ready to resume building his brand – with big aspirations.
“I want to continue to grow this brand as I go into college and, hopefully, turn it into one of the biggest brands in the world,” he said. “That is my end goal.”
It’s a bold vision, but Burroughs has never backed down from a challenge. No matter where his path leads (football, fashion, or something unexpected) he has positioned himself for success. And through it all, he will let his faith lead the way.
