Chang Ignites Crusaders with Nine-Goal Explosion on Senior Night
Sophomore Danny Chang’s performance powered Eastside Catholic during an 18-2 win over North Creek.
SAMMAMISH, Wash. — Danny Chang has only been playing lacrosse for a few years. His friends introduced him, and he fell in love.
Chang’s discovery has been fortuitous for both the sophomore and Eastside Catholic.
During Monday’s 18-2 win over North Creek, Chang showed off his deft scoring touch, finishing with nine goals, to help lift the Crusaders on senior night.
“I would say that’s a lot, yeah,” said Chang with a laugh when asked about his performance. “But I wouldn't have been able to score that much without my team. It helped me, a lot of my goals weren't just dodges, it was off of great passes.
“I would't be here without my team.”
After the Crusaders honored seniors Cosmin Crivat, Robby Shogren, Tyler Chu, Orion Reyna, Porter Willsey, Andrew Hembree, and Sean McMenamin before the game, Chang made sure he turned the evening into a goal-scoring party.
“It was the seniors day today and we played great,” Chang said. “We played phenomenal. This really is a team sport, and we wouldn't be here unless everyone plays well.”
While Chang was quick to praise his teammates, he did admit it felt pretty good to find the net nine times.
“It feels great, because I put in a lot of hard work,” he said. “It's sick that a lot of my shots that I make in practice went in today. I just had a great day, but again, I wouldn't have been able to score that much without my team.”
